DeMaio and Sanders to Highlight Community Involvement in Rancho Bernardo Fire Station Re-DedicationDeMaio Cites Community Input and Philanthropy as Key Ingredients to Making Renovation Project a SuccessFebruary 5th, 2010
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE CONTACT: Jeff Powell, 619-236-6655 Thursday, February 4, 2010 SAN DIEGO – City Councilmember “This re-dedication honors the community leaders for their leadership and financial support to provide our firefighters with a comfortable station and better public safety tools.” DeMaio said. “Local philanthropy and community input was an integral part of the Fire Station renovation.” DeMaio also applauded Mayor Sanders and Chief Mainar for their cooperation with the local community. “This fire station is an example of what can be accomplished when the local community and the city government come together to solve a problem.” DeMaio added. With dwindling city resources DeMaio hopes that this public - private cooperation will serve as an example for other local communities. Renovation plans came together in 2006 after local community members formed a committee out of concern for the living conditions of the local firefighters. Cramped living quarters and a leaky roof were some of the issues that caused worry. Partnering with the City on the project allowed for not only the complete renovation of Fire Station No.33 for improved living quarters, but improved public safety capabilities at the station as well. The Dedication begins at 11:00 at Fire Station No. 33 at 16966 Bernardo Center Dr. For more information, contact Jeff Powell at 619-236-6655 ### |
